One year ago in July, I heard your song I'll Stand By You. It is now the name of my website (www.illstandbyyou.com). It is a help website for teens and young adults who suffer from depression and the issues surrounding it. When you go to the site the song plays, because that is how I feel about all of these kids who are coming to me for help. After one year, my site is reaching 50,000 hits. It is a non profit org and we are trying to raise money. I know this is a long shot, but would you ever consider doing a benefit concert for this cause? Currently 14 teens commit suicide everyday in the USA alone...I am doing my best to lower that. I am a 42 yr old mom who knows what it's like to live with depression and want to die. If ever you could help us out, please let me know...we are in Minnesota.

Thank you for your concert in Vancouver. I went with two of my dearest friends since high school. We're all about Chrissie's age (give or take) with kids, mortgages, aging parents and the cares of life generally.
We hadn't gone to something like this together for years and it was just great. My eyes misted up once or twice, which I attribute to sheer joy. What good feelings!

Saw your show at the Tabernacle in Atlanta. What a show. It is amazing what listening to music that you haven't heard in a while can do to your brain to pick you up and plop you back to a different time and place.
It was a great show. Thanks for performing in such an intimate venue.
By the way, I was one of the binoculars your much loved lead singer was razzing the audience about -- I have them, even in such a close setting because it helps me understand the lyrics to the songs I don't know, and I love watching the face of man on the "grassy knoll."

We caught your concert here in Dallas last night (Feb 6th), and I wanted to know if you plan to release a video collection? I don't have the video, "I'll Stand By You" and really want it. I've seen the video for the "Humane Society" and the "PETA" video and also watched the P.E.T.A. special. Enjoyed what you said about the "animals" last night, Chrissie. I keep in touch with some Pretender's fans and we all would love to see a video collection. PLEASE!! If not, is the "humane society" video for sale? My husband and I joined "P.E.T.A" back in the early 80s and at the time, I just couldn't take it anymore. I found it so depressing, but I am an animal lover and in my world, I also believe there is God first, then animals, and man is the last on the totem pole. We lost our 3 dogs in the past 2 years, but we recently adopted a kitten from our local Humane Society here in Dallas. Wish my husband and I had the chance to talk to you more about "the animals" but we didn't. Hopefully, you'll be back in Dallas again soon. Maybe next time. Glad to know there is someone in this world who is as passionate about animals as I am.

i have to say i generally obstain from vh1 specials and all of that shit. but when i heard your (Chrissie's) voice being interviewed, it made me watch through to the end. i have been a pretenders fan for years and had no idea the history of james and peter...your particular trials & tribulations with keeping the original vibe of the band afloat.being a true rock and roll fan and following the symbiotic relationships of bandmates in bands i hold close to my heart keeps the music alive... and you should know how grateful people are for that energy; that effort to keep the synergy together.i have to say this is probably the first "fan thing" i've written since i was 6. but such is the way of compulsion and you need to be reminded that you are a continual inspiration to many people.those of us who love and live for the magic of rock n' roll...that your undying loyalty to your band and families is a rarity amongst any individual of "normal" circumstance...and i just had to tell you that you are an unwavering example of strength and female potency...and you still fucking rock.your girls are lucky to have you to look up to at bedtime... sincerely and respect all aflow...amy wilder...xoxo

To the Band - Hope you really read this e-mail. I have been a fan since the first time I heard Stop Your Sobbing on the radio in, could it be 1979? Then once I got a hold of the first record, I knew I would be in for the long haul. Any chance you'll be touring again soon? More dates in Chicago? - and skip that nasty World Music Theater if you can. How about something like the Park West? Maybe Chicago Theater? Best rock shows of my still short life.....Los Angeles 1984 and Chicago 1996 (I think) - the free WXRT show. And if I can be so self-absorbed for a moment, To Chrissie Hynde: I am a professor in the Psychiatry Department at a large urban medical school. (Where I also lobby for animal rights...) When asked in a "team building" exercise about women who have inspired me with strength, determination, moxie, political saavy etc., I think just the look on their mostly "tight ass" faces when I said, "Well, Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders, of course." might have been worth my collection of all of the Pretenders' work on vinyl (even the eps)and cds.

I saw you guys on Thursday 30th September at the Glasgow Garage and it was the best concert ever! I thought that cancelling at the Barrows would make the concert not as good, but it was superb!
